Found the lodge, wow huge.... (Will show picture later). Went to orientation...learned lots… Then went to move.... Last night, they put me in the wrong house so this afternoon I moved… Much better...then I got together with some old friends. It was fun. Then went to dinner. Tonight I will go to prayer meeting then off to bed. In the morning I will start work at 7:30.... I will talk to you all soon....Alaska is beautiful...
May God bless you and keep you... Ames

Who can find the Moose?

First day on the job... Answering four phones lines and taking messages was an experience. Dinner will be at 5:00 and then off to Prayer Meeting. Bed will be early tonight. The rain today reminded me of Oregon, it was beautiful. I can't describe how beautiful it is here. The mountains are huge. They remind me of how strong God really is. The green is much like Oregon. There are three camps here at Victory Bible camp... Ranch, Frontier (NO...I'm not sleeping in a teepee...lol), and Alpine Camp...
May God bless you and keep you... Ames

Sorry that I have not email-ed anyone...I have been sick for the last two days. And have been very confused why...But I know God has a plan... But I did have a great time praying and reading my Bible...
(Psalms 139). As I sit here typing... I had a little visit with a cute fluffy tail; out side the window a squirrel... He was so small. It reminded me that God is so much bigger then we are. I love how God reminds us all with just a little time.

Family and Friends....
Please pray for me with this cough (it just won't go away) & the NOSEthe other thing. I'm so frustrated about it all. But I'm realizing this must be An ongoing thing. But a little rest from it would be nice...lol (Matt 6).We got some sunshine today but still cold but that’s Alaska for ya`. The Mountains are beautiful today. The camps sits in a valley of trees and are more gorgeous and huge. It seems they have a story to tell... I wish you could see it all.Oh… I saw moose across the lake the other night. He was HUGE... But so Beautiful... It was hard to get a picture but he was to far away across the lake. No swimming for me.... BrrrrrrThis week we are excited about the amount of campers we have. We are low for the week but we have what the Lord provided. So we march on...If any one has see the movie "What About Bob". Well, there are 4 fish on the counter in the office, where I sit.... one off them looks like "Gill". Bob's fish. Some random talk... lol Talk to u all soon... May God bless you and keep you...

It's quiet here this morning... As I reflect on the week before...So many people sick with colds and flu. But I know in my heart that things will get better. God is the great healer. He is the higher power. There is alot of prayer flowing through this camp. It's so exciting to see. The campers are starting to come in....As I say "Good Morning" and Smile. Their sleepy eye smile back or many just a head nod. It's fun to be here and to have chance to pray for them all as they pass by the desk I work at. I'm glad I'm here to help out anyway I can through God's amazing grace. Ok... It's also very beautiful here too...SmilingIt's sad to thing that some of these kids have never heard of God or even heard a Bible story. Thinking about that is a little scary. Not knowing that there is a God in Heaven that Loves us so much that he die on the cross. It makes you feel real blessed that it has happen for all of us. Please ...

Alaska Bound and Flying Friends and Family..Ok...
I feeling a little better but I'm on good cold drugs that help...lolI went flying today ... There are no words to describe the beautiful landscape of Alaska. We flew over the Camp, the Matanuska Glacier, and the Chugach Mountains, and the beautiful green fur and spruce trees growing below. It was the exciting. The Matanuska Glacier is frozen all year round... It's about 17 miles long. It looks cold and wet. There are pieces of the glacier that is the as blue as it can be. It's the so beautiful and purest ice I have ever seen. Some of the mountains were full of snow. God's might hand is among us. In the lodge were I work answering phones... Outside the window is Talkeetna mountain range with in the mist is the Victory Peak or commonly called Stresla. Isn't this fun... Are you learning lots... I did... lol. Shallow Lake is the water that is the front on where I'm staying (housing). It's was where I saw the moose across the lake... I have to get back to work ...

Dear Family and friends….
Yesterday was a great day. The sun was out and a good breeze. Just perfect weather for Alaska. I went canoeing yesterday. Yes…me. Out in the water, in a canoe. We canoed on Lake Shallow. It amazes mehow beautiful it is… God is shows me something new everyday.. There is no way I could describe it. We did see a Loon diving for fish and bugs, at the bottom of the lake. The lily pads are starting to bloom in the lake. There so big, beautiful and green. (They also had a few yellow buds on the lily pads). My eyes are being opened to spiritual and so many beautiful. God is working on my heart.

Friends and Family..
I went flying again yesterday ... There are no words to describe the beautiful landscape of Alaska. We flew over the Matanuska Glacier & the Chugach Mountains. It was the exciting. The Matanuska Glacier is frozen all year round... It's about 30 miles long. It looks cold and wet. I know that I told you all that the glacier was 17, sorry I made a mistake.) There are pieces of the glacier that are as blue as they can be. It's the so beautiful and purest ice I have ever seen. Well, another week is here with campers wanting to play and learn about God. But…there was a little accident on Monday. One of the campers broke a widow, so he had to be sent home. Well, we must look ahead and pray for better days…I’m God glad God has things under control… Don’t you?Well, this morning I fell over a hose that was lying in front of the lodge. I went down hard. Bruised both knees and my left arm is up in a sling. Just bruised & twisted it …I hope. I’m ok…. SORE but OK. I’m typing with just the right hand…. It’s a little weird but I’m doing it. Please pray that it heals fast.

Good Morning all... I slept ok last night...Very SORE getting up this morning. Woke up with shoulder, arms, knees, and palms achy and sore. But I will survive. First, I went from the split in a sling, second I went to the sling, & now I’m to no sling part of the time. Only when my shoulder or arm hurts that I have to put the sling on. Did that make sense? lol (* It’s the Advil). Well... Anyway I feel a little better...Thank you for all your prayers. At the end of the week the staff is going on a short cruise…

A lot has happened this week. Many of the kids have madedecisions to follow Christ, which makes heaven, sing. There where recommitment and many seeds where planted. It was a great sight to see. Today was another day of week that campers go home. Many campers are teary eyed and don't want to go home. It's sad to know that some of them have to go back to some bad dysfunctional families. I just pray and if you would too, that God would protect and care for them & that the children would remember they have a father above that loves them and will protect them. The camp is now quiet. Counselors are probably sleeping or doing laundry. We are all getting ready for the staff trip. Please also pray for the staff, this weekend, we are going to Seward, Alaska. We are all traveling on a bus. Oh. Boy. Pray that we all get along and for safety. (Crazy times).

August 12, 2006:
To Friends and Family.....
I stay until August 12, 2006 & I've decided back next summer. I really love it up here. It has been a mission trip I will never forget. God has taught me so much. Trusting and taking every moment and appreciate everything God has given to us. There are moments that I look on and say “WOW”. God is amazing and strong.

Here is other adventure with me:
Last night, I went on a little adventure... There was about four of us standing, and talking on the bank of Shallow Lake. We all looked across the lake and there stood a big, fat moose. We ran for a canoe. There were four of us but we all got in. (These canoes usually take only three). This was going to be interesting – we were all laughing. As we all got and headed to the moose. The canoe was rocking pretty well with all of in it. (There was no wind either). As we got to the other side, NO moose. Where did she go? As we started looking for her...We spotted her heading up the side of the ridge. She would stop and eat some of the bushes and trees, so we could look at her. She was so big and beautiful. At one point she stopped behind a tree and all we could see of her was her backside (her tush) and her head. We all laughed at the site.
Everyday is a experience I will never forget. We had a great time. God has blessed me with wonderful friends and scenery. I thank GOD, everyday.

Dear Friends and Family,
This morning was an amazing. I saw my first big rock slid. Outside the window is Talkeetna mountain range, we call it Victory Peak but Alaska calls it Stresla. The rocks were a rolling and crashing. Dust was flying everywhere and there where large crashing of rocks. WOW. God is so powerful to watch. I got a video of it on my camera. I'm so excited.
Yesterday, I went with some of the work team to the Matanuska Glacier. I got to go and walk on the glacier. It was so magnificent. The ice was so white but what made it really interesting was that when light hits it a beautiful blue comes out. Did you see it when you were on your cruise? The beauty in Alaska is increditable. I can’t wait to show you, my pictures. It wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be but it did get chilly.

Dear family and Friend....
Oh my...What a week and weekend....
Busy as came be. Campers were in enjoying themselves as they swam and played. We had a lot of kids receive Christ this week.
I had a chance to go to so of the chapels this week. It was a delight to sit and watch the kids praise God. Well, this weekend was quick the experience. Where to start? I guess the beginning would be good...Smiling. Well, here I go..... I went to a small oil and fishing town on the Alaska seaboard called Valdez. The harbor was full of fish boats and oil rigs. I got a chance to see the pipeline of Alaska. (This pipeline makes it possible to get oil to lot of people in Alaska.)

The cruise I went on was to the Columbia Glacier. It was beautiful. Ok...I’m getting a little ahead of myself. As the cruise got under way, as we floated out in to the sound. There in the water, a group of brown fuzzy animal was floating. Yes...one of my favorite animals of the summer, the otter. There were about five to six of them in a group. With in the group was a baby otter. The baby otter was having a great time diving and playing with the other adults. We saw two groups of them and they were so fun to watch. The next animal we came upon was three lazy sea lions on a buoy. It was quite a site. I don’t fear I did get pictures of that.

The weather was very cloudy but it was still beautiful. The landscape was magnificent. The trees are a little different then an Oregon tree, the trunks in Alaska are very small. But the trees seem to be just as GREEN. Everything in Alaska seems to be green. Well, back on the boat we all searching for whales or other mammals. You will never guess the two animals we saw next? We saw a pod of porpoises and one very shy minki whale. I think that is how you spell it. (LAUGHING).

We also saw a few special birds. We saw from far away: eagles and puffins. The puffins were somewhat near the boat. They are a very tiny bird with very beautiful yellow and orange beaks. But they can fly very fast, so it was hard to get pictures of them. Next on the cruise we saw a bunch of sea lions on a shore of rocks. They were barking and making very loud noises. The sea lions were also splashing & barking in the water. There was a huge male that was fighting for his spot on the rocks. He seemed to be making the other sea lions that were trying to get his spot, go back into the water. It was quite the site.

The trip was a beautiful; on the way back to the harbor we all saw the most beautiful waterfalls...One of the biggest waterfalls we saw was called Anderson Falls. I saw about 5 to 6 waterfalls.

Oh. I saw one more animal on the way home, a little round porcupine, crossing the road. The van almost ran over it. He was so cute. But I will say, I was glad to be in the van.

Sunday I was up @ 9:15...On that lovely rainy morning ...I went to help in the kitchen. It was a great time. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and watching a movie with friend and doing laundry. Around 7:30, it was time for prayer and worship. We have prayer and worship every Sunday night. It’s time to talk about how the week went, prayer request and praises. It’s a wonderful time.

After chapel, Wiley; Emmie and I went canoeing. At this time it was starting to sprinkle. I said “I’m Oregonian, I can do the rain” (As a laughed). We started across the lake. Wiley said “Let’s go Tundra Rolling”. I said “What is Tundra Rolling?” There is a ridge across Shallow Lake with moss on it. People climb the ridge and log roll down the hill. Wow, you say. Yes...WOW. Well, the three of us headed up the hill. I was really nervous, but I was willing to go forth. At first the trail was easy but then....... further up the hill we went and the trail got really thin. Oh...My. We kept moving... As we came to the point of no return... The girls (Wiley and Emmie) went to the top. They both went rolling down the hill like logs, well I took pictures. I was one of many memories that I will have. Through all this is has been raining...We are all wet. As we climb down the ridge, I see wild blueberries. We stop and have a snack. We did see one little, tiny brown, jumpy frog on the way down. Wiley caught the frog and was pretty cute. Then we got back into the canoe. Now ...mmm. The decision to go in to the shore or canoe around the lake. (remember it is still raining). We decide to canoe around the lake. We were so wet; all over by the time we go back....I never have been so cool and wet in a long but I had a great time.

Here are a few picture of my Alaska trip.
Sorry there is not more but I had trouble.
It's better not to ask...... (LOL)

Thank you for reading. Have a great day...
